Spice Stellar Horizon Mi-500 : Phablet in Review

Are you guys thinking that the Samsung Galaxy Note is too expensive to grasp in your hand and flaunt in front of your buddies? No need to worry. Spice is coming up with a gigantic handset to please you all – Spice Stellar Horizon Mi-500- which will hit the market by 1st week of October. This post, dear readers, would not just give you a full view of the phablet but also tell you that it is not necessary to spend a 30K for a 5 inch phone. So, why wait, let’s divulge into a review.

First and the most eye catching thing about the handset is its intimidating size, the sheer 5inch size of the device takes it in a league where there are only couple of other handsets to give company(read competition). The big 5 inch screen is full of vivacious colors and the touch is superb, for crisp images an 800x480p resolution has been incorporated to the screen . And the sensors like proximity sensor and accelerometer sensor 3(D) add glitter to glory.
Moving on, the phone has a 5MP camera on the rear side of the body and a VGA one on the front side for video chat and self portrait. The main camera is supported by a dual LED flash. And there is no need to say that the camera has no dearth of additional features, such as auto focus, portrait, landscape & other modes, and various effects. I am, here affixing some of the pics taken from the phone camera itself.

For the speed lovers the handset offers a Dual processor, which has a clock speed of 1GHz. The superfast processor is backed by a 512MB RAM, the combination is lethal, pretty lethal.
In the connectivity segment there is Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, USB connectivity, GPRS, and HSPA. With the 3G(HSPA) capability the phone is at the same pedestal with handsets like the Samsung Galaxy Note.  In addition the handset has a dual SIM support as well.
If one wants to peep into the battery capabilities of the handset, it has a Li-Ion 2400 mAh battery, which without doubt is one of the high points of the handset.
Moving towards the Operating System of the handset, it has got the best in the business – Android IceCream Sandwich 4.0 (ICS). As far as apps are concerned, we are all familiar with the fact that how big the Play Store range is in this regard. You can just download and use apps or games of your choice. In addition, there are GPS and Google maps to help you in unfamiliar territories.
No, we are not finished yet; I know that most of you like your handsets to be stylish in looks, so I am not expected to end the review without describing how the handset looks. Its rectangular accent makes it much similar to Note or Samsung Galaxy SII, or with an iPhone, if you can imagine a stretched version of it. That itself suffices the looks. This look and feel video would tighten the remaining loose screws, if there are any.

Plus, you get the preloaded NetQin app to make your Android experience safe form unwanted malware, absolutely free. Plus you get pre-loaded apps like WhatsApp, Dhingana, and Facebook to make your experience even sweeter.
So, what do you think of the handset, is it worth your while or not, kindly let me know through your comments, no need to say how much we treasure your remarks here at india-mobilewatch.blogspot.in.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 – Five New Features

We got an opportunity to touch and feel the best phablet in the world - Samsung Galaxy Note 2 – in an event hosted by Samsung at Radisson Blu, New Delhi. Besides having elite attributes like 5.5 inch HD super AMOLED display, 1.6GHz quad core processor with 2GB RAM, and Android 4.1 Gelly Bean OS, the device boasts some cool features, which make it extraordinary for people who feel to pen down everything in their day to day life! Some of the features that make the device stand out in the smartphone segment are given
below.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 First Look

S Note
The S Note is the app exclusively designed for Galaxy Note. Converting your own handwriting into text and free hand drawing into perfect polygonal shapes were never been so easy. Interestingly, you can even write a complicated mathematical formula on the screen using the S Pen; it will recognize and reproduce digitally.

Quick Command
I would say, this app is similar to Google Voice Search. The difference is instead of voice, the commands need to be penned down using S Pen. You can open the command pad by swiping upward on the screen with the S Pen button pressed. On the command pad, you can write certain shortcut, which will automatically open the desired app on the device. You can also create custom commands for your convenience. For example if you simply write “ # Rahul”, it will take you to the particular contact. If you write “?Nikon L120” it will open the Google search page for Nikon L120. Isn’t it cool?

Best Faces
Samsung has bestowed something really interesting in the camera segment. Best Faces feature is specially designed for clicking group photos. When you click a group photo with a normal camera, you should be lucky enough to get a photo with all faces looking best. With the Best Faces feature, Note 2 shoots multiple shots and allows you to choose the best face for each person in the group and stitches them together to give a best group photo.

AirView
The new AirView UI recognizes the S Pen when it is just a few millimeter away from the display screen. How is it going to make a difference in the user interaction with the phone? Well, it gives absolute control and precision of the mouse pointer making the commands easier. You don’t need to actually click to do many actions; you can open the content of a new email as a popup, by just keeping the S Pen slightly above the notification on the screen. You can also see the preview of the content of a folder by doing the same. Also you can see the live preview of the video while hovering over the video timeline, without touching the screen.

AirView feature

Popup Play
Samsung introduced this feature in Samsung Galaxy S III. Samsung calls it as a productivity feature because with this feature you can watch a video and simultaneously use other applications. The video will be played on the screen as a small popup, which can be dragged and placed anywhere on the screen. The rest of the screen area can be used for other applications such as email etc.

For those who like to fiddle with bigger mobile handsets, Spice Mobility is planning to come up with a pretty big (read gigantic) specimen this month, which will be known to the world as the SpiceStellar Horizon Mi-500. The mobile maker is keeping a stern mum over the handset now, but, we- as avid mobile hunters- discovered a prototype of the same. Sharing some of the pics and videos that will give you some hints about what the Mi-500 is all about.

First and the foremost thing that attracts the attention towards the handset is its massive display – 5 inches. In addition to the WVGA capacitive touch screen of the Mi-500, the phone is powered by Android IceCream Sandwich 4.0. The handset is a dual SIM (2G+3G) phone, which is a customary Spice signature these days.
The phone is powered by a 1GHz dual core processor, which will multifold the fun element of the machine. The processor is well complimented by a 512MB RAM, the ROM is 4GB. The Mi-500 comes with a 5MP camera on the rear side of the body and on the front side there is a VGA camera for video chat and self portrait. The main camera is supported by a dual LED flash.
This video will get you well acquainted with the look and feel of the device:

In the power segment, the Mi-500 boasts of a 2400mAh battery; no need to say how long the battery life would be – enormous. Then there is GPS/AGPS, Wi-Fi/Wi-Fi tethering, proximity sensor, FM radio, multi format media player, and expandable memory till 32GB.
From the very outset the Mi-500 seems to be a mouth watering prospect, wait for a week or two and you yourself would get to feel it. Beware Galaxy Note.

Nokia Announces Bigger, Better Lumia 920 : Tech Secs and First Impressions

The giant Finnish telecomconglomerate Nokia, in order to redeem its hold on the smartphone market, has just announced its first ever Windows Phone 8 driven handset Nokia Lumia 920. The handset is going to offer the users what was missing in the previous handsets of the company, such as bigger and better display, a dual core processor, smarter camera, and stronger battery.  It is, perceived by many, as the last attempt by the company to come to the fore as a world class player in the smartphone arena. Let’s find out what exactly does the Nokia Lumia 920 has on offer.

State of Art Display

This time the Lumia has not just come to light with a bigger display but the screen is better too. The Lumia 910 had a 4.3 inch screen with a pretty average screen resolution of 480x320p but this time the Lumia has a 4.5 inch IPS screen with a pixel resolution as high as 1280x768. The screen is a PureMotion HD display, which sports a corning gorilla glass protection. Virtuoso.

First ever Dual Core Processor

Yeah, this device unlike other Windows driven device houses a dual core processor. The Nokia Lumia 920 has Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon chipset over which there is Dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor, making its presence felt to everyone. The processor is well complimented by a 1GB RAM. Electrifying.

Camera

For those who have their interests vested in photography, the Nokia Lumia 920 has a "PureView" 8 MP camera which is said to offer better video and still images than rival smartphones. There is no need for me to remind the readers that this is the same technology used in the revolutionary Nokia 808 which boasts of a humongous 41MP camera. The 920 has a 1.3MP front camera for video chat and self portrait.

Data Connectivity

The 4G capable handset has GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth with A2DP and EDR, USB 2.0, and NFC in the data connectivity.  The mentioned things are all that you want in a modern day smartphone. The Lumia 920 passes the test here too, with distinction, of course.

Other Features

The handset has a storage capacity of 32GB and, in addition, the user gets a 7GB of cloud storage. Excellent. In the battery segment the handset has a powerful 2000 mAh Li-Ion battery, which will let you stay connected for a longer period time. And for those who like their handsets to be vibrant in colors, Nokia has brought the handset in many glossy colors.
Let the Q4 of the year come and we will witness how true is all the hue and cry that has been created around the Nokia Lumia 920. Fingers crossed.
